Hafsa Naaz

Hafsa grew up in the Saharanpur District of Western U.P close to Uttarakhand. She has seen atrocities faced by women and herself which reflected in building up her personality as an opiniated women. She is vocal about the issues faced by women and youths and finds her way of expressing her opinion through poetry or storytelling. Fascinated with the methods of storytelling she pursued her graduation in Journalism and Mass Communication and awarded as Gold Medallist for being the topper of her Batch. Her inclination towards Development communication leads her to use communication as a tool for the social behaviour change of the communities.

After completing her graduation, Hafsa moved to Delhi and contributed her four years working as a development communicator with an organisation working on Communication for Social Change. She intervened in the peri urban areas of Delhi and facilitated the training on how to produce Community Films and Podcasts using smartphones to the migrant women and youth, which empowered the community to narrate their stories based on the wide range of issues such as migrant rights, gender-based violence, livelihood concerns and issues of youth and adolescence. These produced stories were disseminated in the community through Film screenings, Audio Choupals and Whats app groups which initiated a discussion of these issues in the community leading to social behaviour change of the community. 

Hafsa wanted to utilize her communication skills for the capacity building of women & youth. She strongly believed that it is important to raise the issues and spread awareness in the society to find the adequate solution of the problems and we can achieve so by producing the resources and on ground stories of the community. Always enjoyed working on the grassroots levels Hafsa wanted to continue working with the marginalised section of the society to achieve equality and dignity for all by utilizing her communication methodologies. In the Meanwhile, she is also using social media platforms to create content of her poetry and short videos.
